If I had to pick a favorite time of year, October would be it! Nature shares such beauty through the explosion of colorful changing leaves to the powerful lesson of letting go as those leaves fall to the Earth. Temperatures start to cool down and the scent of warm yummy seasonal foods begin to fill the air. Samhain rituals, Halloween celebrations, and harvest gatherings, which occur at the end of October, have the potential to infuse uplifting, nurturing, and grounding energies into your daily routine.
Additionally, this time of year the veil to the other side begins to thin. For that reason, October provides the perfect occasion to remember, celebrate, honor, and connect with your intuition, passed loved ones, ancestors, and spirit guides. Messages become easier to receive, clarity of communication is enhanced, and intuition is more readily accessed.
Creating specific ritual honoring your loved ones who have transitioned can provide a great deal of comfort and connection as you recall those who are no longer physically here with you. Utilizing sacred ceremony this time of year also has the potential to enhance your intuitive connection and deepen your relationship with your ancestors.
I would like to share a ritual that can assist you in honoring and reaching out to your ancestors and passed loved ones, thus more deeply and tangibly connecting you with your energetic and spiritual support system.
You will need the following items to create your ceremony:
Set aside a quiet time in the evening to perform your ceremony. Gather all your supplies. Begin to center yourself by focusing on your breath. Once you feel calm and grounded, spread out your fabric in the center of a table. Bring your loved ones or ancestors to mind. Set your intention of connection and communication. Ask your loved ones or your ancestors to come to you with a message, guidance, and their presence. As you continue to set your intention, place the feather on the east side of the fabric. Then place the white candle on the south side of the fabric. Light the candle. Next place the sea salt on the west side of the fabric. Followed by placing the soil and any food and drink you have prepared, on the north side of your fabric. Finally, place your photograph(s) in the center of your fabric. Spend a few moments in a reflective and contemplative state as you take in the energetic connection you have created. Continue to hold your loved ones and ancestors in your heart and mind. When this time feels complete, blow out the candle as you give loving thanks and gratitude for any supportive guidance you received from the other side. Take a moment to journal about any of your experiences.
This ritual may be repeated several times using the same supplies. Your experiences may vary each time you create your ceremony. Honor every experience as valid and before you know it you will be receiving messages of guidance as your intuitive confidence grows.
